A 100m² driveway does not cost three times a 35m² one. Mobilising the team, the compactor and the first load of stone is a fixed cost, and on a bigger area it disappears into the rate. If you are paving the driveway anyway, doing the parking apron at the same time is materially cheaper than doing it next year.
Deep sand under a long driveway
Table View sits on deep, clean, wind-blown sand. On a short driveway a thin base is merely a bad idea. On a long one it is expensive, because when it ruts you are lifting and re-basing a large area rather than a small one. We compact the stone in layers across the whole run and we do not vary the depth to save money on the far end.

Is it cheaper to do the whole area at once?
Yes, noticeably. The rate per square metre drops as the area grows because mobilisation is a fixed cost.
Will a boat trailer damage paving?
Not if the base is built for it. The damage comes from jockey wheels and tight turns on a thin base.
