What the ground is like here

This is the windiest paving in the metro. Fine coastal sand, constant south-easter, and very little natural shelter: open joints get scoured and paving laid on uncompacted sand moves. We compact in layers, restrain every edge, and on exposed Big Bay and Melkbosstrand sites we recommend stabilised jointing from the start rather than as a repair. Century City and the Milnerton side sit on reclaimed and made ground in places, which is worth checking before quoting a depth.
