Building for a loaded truck
A laden grain truck or a tractor with a trailer loads a road far harder than a bakkie. The sub-base is sized to that vehicle. Shale-derived soils in the Swartland move with the seasons, so excavation depth and compaction do most of the work of keeping the surface flat.
Dust, run-off and the werf
Summer dust is the other reason farms pave: a paved werf and yard keeps dust out of the house and the packshed. Winter run-off across a long road needs cross-falls or it cuts channels through the edges. Paving Wiz plans both at the measure.
