Paving Wiz lays driveways, yards and parking bays across Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha, Philippi, Grassy Park, Athlone and Lansdowne. Standard grey paving brick, the most common choice on the Flats, costs R300 to R420 per square metre installed. A single driveway of about 35m² lands between R10,500 and R14,700.

Sand drains well and moves sideways
The Flats are deep wind-blown sand with a high water table in the low spots. Sand never holds water against the paving, which is good. It also never locks together under load. A bakkie parked in the same place every night pushes pavers down and out, and ruts appear within a season. Paving Wiz builds a graded stone base on top of the sand instead of bedding bricks straight into it.
Edge restraints: the line item not to cut
Paving on sand spreads sideways faster than anywhere else in the metro. An edge restraint costs R80 to R150 per linear metre. A 6m by 6m driveway with two open sides needs about 12m of edging, so R960 to R1,800. Leaving it out saves that once and costs a re-lay later.
